Colorado Mesa University contracted me to design branding for their 2024 Homecoming events. The theme for 2024 was “Spirit of the Maverick” and they wanted to evoke a mystical and natural mood that celebrated the landscapes of Western Colorado.

Process
Like most branding projects I work on, I began with a brainstorming process to generate ideas and connections. Based off initial sketches, we initially went with a concept based on decorative Western cowboy boots where the elements of the logo would look stitched on. Later CMU decided they wanted to pivot to a different look and I started on a concept that was more illustrative and showed the “spirit” of the the maverick flowing into the Colorado river to showcase the landscape more. The project scope included a press-ready Adobe Illustrator file for the t-shirt, a color logo, an illustrated poster, and a simple guide for the department to use when developing further promotional materials in-house.
