Watercolor Illustration

Brief

Create an illustration of a group of characters that are clustered together using fine liners and watercolor.

Process

I researched the inspiration for the project, Andy Ristaino, and made some quick sketches. The three concepts I decided on were; semiaquatic animals as pirates, random characters, and grandmas. After coming up with the concepts, I sketched the characters out in Procreate so I could easily play with the spacing. After that I sketched out and inked the characters. Then I applied watercolor. I used a variety of techniques, such as blooms, gradients, and washes.
